Network Intrusion Detection System

Network Intrusion Detection System or NIDS is typically a set of software which examines network configuration and use through logs with the intention of detecting and alerting to suspicious activity which could or has resulted in an intrusion into the network. Network Intrusion Protection System or NIPS is typically an extension of NIDS where if the confidence of detected nefarious activity is high and it is blocked automatically.

Pipe Ten uses NIDS and NIPS widely, almost always combined with HIDS and HIPS for greater insight and protection.
