Host Intrusion Detection System

Host Intrusion Detection System or HIDS is typically a set of software which examines system configuration and use through logs with the intention of detecting and alerting to suspicious activity which could or has resulted in an intrusion into the system. Host Intrusion Protection System or HIPS is typically an extension of HIDS where if the confidence of detected nefarious activity is high and it is blocked automatically.

Pipe Ten uses HIDS widely and HIPS where appropriate, often combined with NIDS and NIPS for greater insight and protection.
