What are DNS records?

Domain name system (DNS) records are a way of mapping an easily memorable domain name to a less easily memorable IP address. For example, when you type www.pipeten.com this gets translated to the IP address 46.20.238.104, the server hosting the website.

To make use of DNS records hosted by us, the domain name must be using our nameservers. These are:

ns0.pipeten.co.uk
ns1.pipeten.co.uk
ns2.pipeten.co.uk

Fully Qualified Domain Name’s (FQDN) require a dot (.) at the end of the DNS record. The hosting control panel will handle this trailing dot for you, so this doesn’t need to used when setting up the records.
