The Company

Based in the Sheffield’s heritage Kelham Island Quarter, Pipe Ten has been providing web hosting solutions since 2002 with thousands of customers based around the UK and further afield.

The Role

This role is ideally suited to a self motivated individual looking to build further on existing experience with bleeding edge web technologies; their availability, performance, security and support of.

Your time at Pipe Ten will involve the architecting, deployment & maintenance of Pipe Ten’s customer supporting web application solutions; with a focus on hybrid / public cloud infrastructures. Pipe Ten being an application/infrastructure/public cloud agnostic service provider, the role is ideally suited to candidates with “full stack” understanding and interest in a wide range of web application delivery technology and method. As part of a relatively small but expert team, you will have the opportunity and support to find your place to further the mutual goals of the business and colleagues.

Minimum Requirements

  • You must be available locally/physically at Pipe Ten’s Sheffield based offices at-least 1 day per week if and when required; this is not a permanently remote position.
  • You must have either recent (last 6 months), or previous significant (years) commercial/production/live experience of Linux environments (or similar).
  • You must have either recent (last 6 months), or previous significant (years) commercial/production/live experience of Windows environments (or similar).
  • You must have either recent (last 6 months), or previous significant (years) commercial/production/live experience of Local Cloud/Public Cloud environments (or similar).
  • You must have exceptional communication skills both typed and verbal in English.
  • You must demonstrate a driven, committed, flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • You must have the ability to work well under pressure.
  • You must take professional pride and seek to exceed customer expectation.

Other Desirable Skills or Knowledge

  • You should be able to demonstrate development/programming experience in the areas of software or systems automation.
  • You should be familiar with working within a high security and/or compliance controlled digital environment.
  • You should have a passion for technology both inside and outside the working environment.
  • Hold a valid UK driving license.
  • Demonstrate working understanding of:
    • Web Infrastructure such as Http(s), Website files, DNS, Email, FTP and Databases.
    • Virtualisation or containerisation.
    • TCP/IP Networking.
    • Scripting/Web Development or Programming.
  • We value experience and example of skill over certification, but they help qualify minimum expectations if you have them.
  • A team player able to work autonomously and with minimal supervision in a small individually focused team.

The Package

  • £ 25k++?… there is no time/compensation ceiling to demonstrable business contribution/value, but this is Sheffield!
  • Flexible… Part Time or Full Time, Office, Remote.
