Technical Assistant


Overview:
Based in the heart of Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter, Pipe Ten provide award winning web hosting solutions catering for all major website development technologies for thousands of clients at home and abroad.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual looking for a career in ICT working in a key role with one of Sheffield’s most exciting digital businesses. Pipe Ten is looking for a versatile person that will primarily be involved with supporting customer relationships by providing technical assistance for web hosting services. The role will also include server maintenance and the opportunity to learn from our experienced team.

Core Responsibilities:
The role's core duty will be to ensure that customers' support requests are dealt with quickly and accurately and if necessary escalated to the correct parties. This will primarily be handled via email and online live chat. The role will also involve providing support for the introduction of new technologies, disaster recovery planning and the evaluation, selection and deployment of web hosting infrastructures. Technologies may include firewalls, web servers, application servers, traffic management devices, network switches and routers, email relays, data storage, databases, monitoring systems, secure socket layers, domain names and other related technologies.

Experience:
Any experience in web development and the following technologies would be beneficial; PHP, ASP.NET, Apache, MySQL, MS SQL Server 2005, Linux, Windows Server 2003, XP & Vista, Network skills, TCP/IP.

Training:
A full training and development plan will be created.

Salary:
Start from £14,000 - £18,000 per annum dependent on experience.

Working hours:
Core hours of 10.00 - 18.00, Monday - Friday
Flex-time and out-of-hours cover where applicable.

Holidays:
20 days per annum plus bank holidays.

Dress Code:
Smart casual, no suits.

Leisure Facilities:
Free on site pool table.
